VIUMASTERS

I worked in various projects with Mexican art/animation collective "Viumasters ; these are 2 shortfilms that were produced with them that I was lucky enough to animate in:

"Xochimilco 1914"

I worked animating both digital cut out in After Effects and animating in TVPaint to be able to deliver animation that was later rendered in ink by Carlos Gamboa.

The shortfilm goes through the historic meeting between Pancho Villa and Emiliano Zapata in Xochimilco showcasing the dialogue with the use of mixed media techniques with traditional and digital animation formats.

The film was directed by Esteban Azuela, Carlos Gamboa and Mara Soler.

"El Don de los Espejos" ("Mister Mirror Man")

I worked as an animator in Mara Soler's short film "El Don de los Espejos"

The production was a mix of rotoscope from live action, animating traditionally, testing inks and lines, and also animating digitally in TVPaint.

In the end everything was rendered using Chinese ink and composed in After Effects.

Here are some of my shots and animation tests that I did trying to figure out the thickness of the line that we wanted to achieve.

As an example, I animated the fish shot digitally in TVPaint and then it was rendered using chinese ink andwatercolors by Carlos Gamboa.
